VISEGRADFUND

Last modified: 20. September 2024

The International Visegrad Fund supports regional cooperation between civil society organizations to advance their relations, exchange and share ideas and promote mutual understanding. When promoting European values in Central Europe, we work together towards a better-connected future.

The International Visegrad Fund is a donor organization established in 2000 by the governments of the Visegrad Group countries – Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The Fund follows the vision of President Vaclav Havel, President Lech Wałęsa and Prime Minister József Antall and supports regional cooperation of civil society organizations. That is possible thanks to Grants, Scholarships and Artists Residencies. We seek original approaches that help the region progress in seven main areas of Culture, Education, Innovation, Democratic Values, Public Policy, Environment and Tourism, and Social Development.

Our vision is a Central Europe with full understanding of its shared history and the necessity of mutual respect and cooperation towards a better future in the broader European context.

The Fund’s annual budget is 10 million € provided by equal contributions of the V4 governments. On ad hoc basis, the Fund also administers financial contributions from third countries dedicated to Visegrad+ projects.

What We Look For

We seek organizations that aim to share knowledge, enhance innovation and engage citizens in the Visegrad region and across Central and Eastern Europe. We want to partner with those that can make a difference—no matter if you are a small civic group focused on the local community, or an experienced, nation-wide organization.

What We Support

We provide funding to a diverse range of activities in all areas of life. From small cross-border projects that strive to improve mutual understanding in the border areas to multilateral initiatives with potential to benefit people across the whole region.

Assessment Criteria

We apply five basic criteria to assess the quality of project proposals. In addition, we also consider the relative strength of the application compared to other applications received for the same focus area and geographical balance of the supported projects. The evaluation of applications is advisory and not of a decision-making nature. The decisions on support are made by the Council of Ambassadors.

How To Apply?

Visegrad Fund awards grants three times a year via three different grant programs. Check application deadlines, create your electronic application and apply online.
